Sorry guys, wish I had a better digital camera, but such is life. I used the jar on the left, the 25 oz pickle jar as a pen/pencil holder. The one on the right is the 10 oz olive jar, and works great for potpourri.
Materials:
Crochet Cotton Thread, size 10, 2 colors, approx. 100 yards.
1 Yard 1/4 inch ribbon in coordinating color, optional

Jar, I used a 10 oz jar from the generic brand of olives and a 25 oz jar from the generic brand of pickles.
Stiches Used:
sl st - slip stitch
dc - double crochet
sc - single crochet
25 oz Pickle Jar
Rnd 1: Ch4, slip stitch to form a ring. CH 3, 7 dc in ring, join with slip stitch to ch 3. (Now and throughout the ch 3 will count as a the first dc.)8 dc.
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same stitch as joining, 2 dc in ea dc around. 16 dc.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, dc in same stich as joining, dc in next stitch, *2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join. 24 dc.
Rnd 4: Ch 3, dc in same stitch as joining, dc in next 2 dc, * 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 2 dc. Repeat from * around, join. 32 dc.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in same stitch as joining, dc in next 3, * dc in next dc, dc in next 3. Repeat from * around, join. 40 dc.
Rnd 6: Ch 3, in Back loops only, this round only, dc in each dc around. 40 dc.
Rnd 7: Ch 1, sc in same stitch as joining, *skip 1 dc, 5 dc in next dc (scallop made, * skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, skip 1 dc 5 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join in frist sc. 10 scallops, 10 sc.
Rnd 8: Ch 3, 4 dc in same stitch as joining, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop, *5 dc in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop. Repeat from * around, join in top of ch 3. 10 scallops, 10 sc.
Rnd 9: Slip stitch to 3rd sc of next scallop, ch 1, sc in same stitch, 5 dc in next sc, *sc in 3rd dc of next scallop, 5 dc in next sc. Repeat from * around, join in first sc. 10 scallops, 10 sc.
Rnds 10 - 19: Repeat rounds 8 and 9 5 more times.
Row 20: Ch 3, in back loops only, this row only, 2 dc in same stitch, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop, *3 dc in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop. Repeat from * across, 3 dc in first sc. Do not join. 11 small scallops, with the first and last scallops in the same sc.
Row 21: Turn, sl st to 2nd dc of first small scallop, ch 1 sc in same stitch, *5 dc in next sc, sc in 2nd dc of scallop. Repeat from * across. 10 scallops, 11 sc. Fasten off.
Add ribbon to row 20 if desired.
10 oz Olive Jar
Rnd 1- 4: Repeat rounds 1 - 4 from the 25 oz jar pattern.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in the back loops of each stitch around, join. 32 dc.
Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in same st, skip 1 dc, 5 dc in next dc(scallop made), * skip 1 dc, sc in next dc, skip 1 dc, 5 dc in next dc. Repeat from * around, join in first sc. 8 scallops, 8 sc.
Rnd 7: Ch 3, 4 dc in same sc as joining, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop, * 5 dc in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop. Repeat from * around, join to top of ch 3. 87 scallops.
Rnd 8: Sl st to 3rd dc of scallop, ch 1, sc in same stitch, 5 dc in next sc, *sc in 3rd dc of next scallop, 5 dc in next sc. Repeat from * around, join in first sc. 8 scallops.
Rnds 9 - 16: Repeat rounds 7 and 8 4 more times.
Row 17: Ch 3, in back loops only, 2 dc in same stitch, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop, *3 dc in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of next scallop. Repeat from * around, 3 dc, in first sc. 9 small scallops, Do not join.
Row 18: Turn, sl st to the 2nd dc of first scallop, ch 1 sc in same stitch, *5 dc in next sc, sc in 2nd dc of scallop. Repeat from * across, fasten off.
Add ribbon to row 17 if desired.
